CAT1

CAT1 or Category 1 was first introduced in 1985 and is wiring used to transfer voice data used in telephone services. This wiring was available in unshielded twisted pairs and untwisted. Although Cat1 may still be found with older homes, most modern homes and business are replacing CAT1 for CAT3 and CAT5.
