Bandwidth
When referring to your own connection, bandwidth is the total maximum capacity of your network or modem connection.
For example, when connecting to the Internet using a modem the computer may say
"Connected at 28.8kbps", which is
28.8 kilobits per second of data transfer. The more bandwidth
a computer has, the faster it will be able to receive and send information. A modem with a connection of 56kbps is much faster than 28.8kbps and users with a broadband
connection can get transfers speeds of several MB every second, which is more than triple the speed of the fastest modem.
Tip: If bandwidth is being shared between other computer, neighbors, devices, etc. you will not reach the maximum capacity of the bandwidth as reported by your ISP.
