Archie

Named to be similar to archive, Archie is considered to be the first search engine and was written by Alan Emtage, Bill Heelan, and Mike Parker at McGill University in Montreal Canada and released on September 10, 1990. Archie is a script used for finding files stored on anonymous FTP sites.
