Access rights

Any permissions that have been placed on a computer resource. For example, if an account does not have access rights to a file you may be unable to see, read, or write to that file. When this occurs, you will receive an access denied error.

• MS-DOS users can set the file access rights by using the attrib command.
• Unix, Linux, and variants of these operating system users can use commands such as the chmod command and chown command.
