Access point

Alternatively referred to as a base station and wireless router, an access point is the location of a wireless receiver that enables a user with wireless access to connect to a network or the Internet. This term can refer to both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. In the image to the right, is a Linksys wireless access point router and an example of what a Wi-Fi access point may look like. Unlike a traditional router, this router will have one or more antennas on it to help get the wireless signal.
