- Application is synonymous with Program.
- Abbreviated as app, this shortened version of application became popular with the Apple iPhone and Facebook, which allowed developers to use toolkits to develop applications for their products. A popular example of how Apple uses this term is the Apple App Store, which is an online location anyone with an Apple product can go and purchase and install an application.
- A term used to describe a form or questioner that is filled out to help inform an individual or company about an individual or product. A great example of an application is a job application where a user must fill out a form of his or her qualifications before being considered by the company.
